Renaissance CDD Fountain Installation Process
Approved by Renaissance CDD Board on August 12, 2024

The health of our Renaissance lakes and ponds is important to the success of our community.  The most important equipment in water health is an aerator (or air station).  An aerator oxygenates the lower levels of water. As such, the Renaissance CDD has committed substantial funds to install and maintain aerators in all the lakes and ponds.

Fountains are also part of water health since they aerate the top of the lake- disrupting bugs and oxygenating the surface.  Combining the two (aerator and fountain) is the most desirable structure for lake health.  However, the cost of fountain equipment, installation and maintenance forced the CDD to delay widespread fountain installation for the foreseeable future.  The CDD recognizes that some residents may enjoy a fountain. In the spirit of compromise, the CDD will support fountain installation under the following circumstances:

A petition from a majority of the neighbors in close proximity to the proposed fountain. The CDD will determine the number and location of neighbors who must be contacted. This petition can be in the form of an individual email or individual letter, or group signed petition to the CDD.  The information must include each landowner’s name, address, contact info and yes/no declaration.  Upon receipt, the CDD will verify.  A check for the cost of the fountain and initial installation must accompany the petition.

The fountain will be on a timer and will have lights.  Timers will be set to turn the fountain on from 7 am to midnight daily throughout the community. Lights are on a sensor.  Once installed, the CDD is responsible for all ongoing maintenance and utility bills for the fountain. Additionally, the CDD retains the ownership, maintenance and authority over the fountain, and reserves the right to change the operation and maintenance of the fountain at any time.

Residents can expect the installation to follow this order:

  1. Resident contacts CDD to request fountain.
  2. Staff requests proposals/cost estimates for the installation of the fountain, and the CDD Field Manager to select the horsepower and location of the fountain within the lake.
  3. CDD to determine the number and location of neighbors who must be contacted for the petition.
  4. Residents submit a petition to CDD, with a check for the fountain cost. Check should be payable to Renaissance CDD, and can be mailed or dropped off at the address listed below.
  5. Staff verifies the opinion of each name on petition.
  6. The CDD Board reviews/approves the installation at a public meeting.
